Overview
Azure Documenter logs every user action across the module, organized into five categories you can review from the User activities section.
Business value
A categorized activity log lets teams audit who performed operations, and when, across document configurations, diagrams, and user management, supporting accountability and governance without requiring external logging tools.
How it works
Azure Documenter records user activity under five log categories.
Groups
The Groups category logs operations related to group activities, document configurations, diagrams, and the exposed API:
- Group activities: creating a group, editing a group, assigning, editing, or removing a user role, and scope selection.
- Documentation: creating, updating, deleting, generating, and scheduling a document configuration.
- Diagrams: creating, updating, and deleting a diagram.
- Exposed API: groups, documentation.
General
The General category logs operations at the global product level, outside of configuration management:
- Adding, updating, and deleting a storage account
- Adding, updating, and deleting a Document360 project
- Deleting a group
Service principal management
This category logs operations on service principals:
- Adding, updating, and deleting a service principal
User Management
This category logs operations related to users, groups, and roles:
- Adding or removing a user or group
- Updating user permissions
- Adding, updating, and deleting a role
Exposed API
This category logs service principal operations performed through the exposed API:
- Adding, updating, and deleting a service principal
