It shows totals for seats, users, and cost, a list of findings that each name the tenant they affect, and a table that compares the tenants side by side. The page is read-only. Totals come from the last sync of each tenant. When you select the top-level tenant group, the page covers every tenant in the account. ### Business value You can compare tenants in one view, such as the tenants of a region or a customer, and see which one needs attention first. A finding names its tenant, so you open the right tenant without searching for it. ## Prerequisites Before you use the page, connect at least one tenant in the tenant group. Totals appear after a tenant completes its first sync. See [Connect a Microsoft 365 tenant](https://docs.turbo360.com/docs/connect-a-microsoft-365-tenant). ### Required permissions You need **Read** on Overview for the tenant group. The **Owner**, **Contributor**, and **Reader** roles include it. If your access is limited to part of the tree, the page lists only the tenants you can see. For details, see [Roles and permissions in Tenant Manager](https://docs.turbo360.com/docs/tenant-manager-roles-and-permissions). ### Dependencies Tenant group totals depend on the last sync of each tenant in the tenant group. A tenant group has no sync of its own. Money figures need seat prices, which come from the Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) billing account of each tenant or from a custom price in the [Global price catalog](https://docs.turbo360.com/docs/global-price-catalog-in-tenant-manager). ## How it works The page shows tiles, findings, a bar chart, and a table. Totals come from each tenant's last sync. Select the info icon next to the tenant group name to read how the totals work. ### Tiles Four tiles summarize the tenant group. | Tile | What it shows | | --- | --- | | Tenants | The number of tenants in the tenant group. The note reads "{n} users ยท {n} groups" and counts the users and the Microsoft Entra ID groups synced from each tenant. These are not tenant groups. | | Paid seats | The paid seats in the tenant group, with how many are assigned and the percentage. It shows "None purchased" when the tenants hold no paid seats. | | Idle seats | The paid seats held by users who are disabled or have had no activity for 90 days, based on last activity. | | Monthly cost | The monthly cost of the paid seats the tenants purchased, for licenses that have a price. The note under it says how much of that cost is for idle seats, or that nothing is spent on idle seats. | When no tenant in the tenant group has completed a sync, each tile note starts with "Waiting for first sync". Money on this page shows in one currency: the billing currency of the tenants when they all share one, otherwise US dollars, converted at the daily exchange rate. ### Needs attention This card lists one finding for each issue on each tenant, with the worst first, so a tenant can appear more than once. Each finding has an urgency label of **Now**, **Soon**, or **Review**, and it names the tenant. Select a finding to select that tenant in the tree view and open the list the finding was counted from. Connection findings open the **Tenants** page. | Finding | What it tells you | | --- | --- | | Not syncing | The tenant's sync is failing or disconnected. The numbers are from its last successful sync. A sync counts as failing when it logged any issue, not only when it stopped completely. A report on a failing tenant is abandoned and nothing is sent, and automation is blocked for it. | | Client secret expired or expiring | The client secret of the tenant has passed its expiry date or is close to it. | | Expired subscriptions | Seats are still assigned on expired subscriptions. | | Paid seats on disabled accounts | Disabled accounts still hold paid seats that are billed. | | Tasks awaiting approval | License changes wait for a decision. Select the finding to open **Optimization** > **Tasks** filtered to **Awaiting**. | | Paid seats with no sign-in for 90 days | Enabled accounts with paid seats and no activity for 90 days. | | License renews soon | A subscription renews or expires within the next 90 days. | | Paid license types assigned to nobody | You pay for licenses that nobody uses. | | Groups with no owner | Microsoft Entra ID groups that nobody owns. | | Not synced yet | The tenant has not completed a sync. Seat and user numbers appear after the first sync. Select **Sync** on the tenant to run it now instead of waiting for the schedule. | The tenant group page works from the totals saved at each tenant's last sync, so it doesn't raise every finding that the tenant Overview does. It doesn't show unassigned paid seats, licensing groups with no members, people who could move to a cheaper license, or people with multiple assignments. To see them, open the tenant. See [Tenant overview](https://docs.turbo360.com/docs/tenant-overview-in-tenant-manager). ### Idle seats chart and tenants table The **Idle seats by tenant** card shows one bar for each tenant that has idle paid seats, largest first. Each bar shows the number of seats, and the cost of those seats when the prices of that tenant are known. When no tenant has idle seats, the chart says so. The tenants table lists every tenant in the tenant group. Select a tenant name to open that tenant at its Overview page. You can sort, resize, and reorder the columns. | Column | What it shows | | --- | --- | | Tenant | The tenant name. It is a link. | | Group | The tenant group that holds the tenant. | | Awaiting approval | The number of tasks that wait for a decision. Shown only to users who have **Approve license tasks**. Select the count to open the tasks. | | Users | The number of users. | | Paid seats | The number of paid seats purchased. | | Assigned | The share of paid seats that are assigned, or "None purchased". | | Idle seats | The paid seats on disabled accounts or with no activity for 90 days. | | Monthly cost | The monthly cost of the paid seats the tenant purchased, for licenses that have a price. Not sortable. | | Last synced | When the tenant last finished a sync, or "Never synced". | ## Steps The tenant group Overview is read-only, so the steps below cover how to open it and how to move from it to a tenant. You start in the tree view in Tenant Manager. ### Open the tenant group overview This procedure opens the totals for a tenant group. 1. In the tree view, select the tenant group. To see every tenant in the account, select the top-level tenant group. 2. Read the tiles, the findings, and the table. ### Open a tenant from the tenant group overview This procedure takes you from a total to the tenant behind it. 1. Select a finding, or select a tenant name in the table. 2. Review the tenant. It opens at the list the finding was counted from, at the **Tenants** page for a connection finding, or at its Overview page when you select the name in the table. See [Tenant overview](https://docs.turbo360.com/docs/tenant-overview-in-tenant-manager). ## Permission behavior What you see depends on your access to the tenant group. - If your role has no **Read** on Overview for a tenant group, Tenant Manager opens the first scope beneath it that you can read. - The **Awaiting approval** column is shown only to users who have **Approve license tasks**. The Tasks awaiting approval finding is shown to anyone who can see the tenant group. - A tenant that is outside your access isn't counted or listed. ## Example scenario Yusuf Demir looks after a tenant group named Alpine-DACH that holds the tenants Alpine Austria and Alpine Switzerland. Before the quarterly license review, he selects the tenant group in the tree view. The tiles show the combined paid seats and idle seats of both tenants. **Needs attention** lists "Not syncing" for Alpine Austria. Yusuf reads that the figures for Alpine Austria come from its last successful sync, so he selects the finding and opens the tenant. He leaves its numbers out of the review until the tenant syncs again. ## Limitations - The page is read-only, and a tenant group has no **Sync** button. Each tenant syncs on its own. - Totals use each tenant's saved figures, so the page doesn't list users or licenses. - A tenant group shows an Overview page only. - Some findings that the tenant Overview shows aren't raised on a tenant group. Open the tenant to see them. - Money is shown in one currency, converted at the daily exchange rate. ## Troubleshooting 1. **The tiles show "Waiting for first sync".** Cause: no tenant in the tenant group has completed a sync. Fix: sync the tenants. Syncing needs the **Manage tenants** permission. 2. **The page says "This group has no tenants you can see".** Cause: the tenant group has no tenants, or none of them are in your access. Fix: add a tenant to the tenant group, or ask an administrator who can manage Tenant Manager access, such as a module owner, for access. 3. **A tenant is missing from the table.** Cause: the tenant is outside your access, or it was moved to another tenant group. Fix: ask an administrator who can manage Tenant Manager access, such as a module owner, to check your role and scope. 4. **The Awaiting approval column is missing.** Cause: your role doesn't have **Approve license tasks**. Fix: ask an administrator who can manage Tenant Manager access, such as a module owner, to turn it on. ## FAQs 1. **Do the totals include nested tenant groups?** Yes. A tenant group adds up every tenant beneath it, including the tenants in its nested tenant groups. 2. **Can I sync a tenant group?** No. Each tenant syncs on its own, and a tenant group shows the last sync of each tenant. 3. **Why does a finding open a tenant instead of a list?** Findings in a tenant group are counted for each tenant. Select one to select that tenant and open the list it was counted from. Findings about the connection open the **Tenants** page. ## Related articles - [Understanding tenant groups](https://docs.turbo360.com/docs/understanding-groups-and-tenants) - [Tenant overview](https://docs.turbo360.com/docs/tenant-overview-in-tenant-manager) - [Managing tenant groups](https://docs.turbo360.com/docs/managing-groups-in-tenant-manager) - [How data sync works](https://docs.turbo360.com/docs/how-data-sync-works) - [Roles and permissions in Tenant Manager](https://docs.turbo360.com/docs/tenant-manager-roles-and-permissions) - [License tasks](https://docs.turbo360.com/docs/license-tasks-in-tenant-manager)
