How it works
BAM delivers its benefits through two complementary capabilities: a push model that captures tracking data from your integration services as events occur, and a pull model that queries existing data sources on demand. Together, these models give you continuous, end-to-end visibility across your transaction lifecycle.
1. End-to-end transaction visibility
BAM tracks individual transactions from start to finish across multiple integration services — Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Service Bus, API Management, and more. You can see exactly where a transaction is in its lifecycle, which stages have completed, and where failures occurred — without correlating logs across multiple Azure services manually.
2. Faster incident detection and response
Duration monitoring and exception monitoring alerts notify the right teams the moment a transaction exceeds its expected processing time or generates an error. Escalation policies ensure alerts reach the correct stakeholder if initial responders do not act within the defined window — compressing the time from failure to resolution.
3. Business-level reporting without BI infrastructure
BAM surfaces transaction data at the business process level, not just the infrastructure level. Operations and support teams can query transaction instances, filter by status, and identify patterns without needing Power BI, Log Analytics queries, or developer involvement.

The reprocessing capability lets authorized users replay failed transactions directly from the BAM interface. This eliminates the need to raise developer tickets for common retry scenarios, reducing support queue depth and mean time to recovery.
